LEARNING TO PRAY
Read:
Luke 11:1-13
Development:
What do we see in these verses? What we see is that Luke tells us that Jesus taught them the perfect way to pray, leaving us the well-known "Our Father" as their model.
The one that consists of 6 fundamental parts that we will learn below, parts that must be respected in any prayer that is made invoking the name of our most holy Jehovah.
First part:
Here we find recognition of the heavenly father, father of all of us,"Our father who art in Heaven"In addition, we can also find another aspect that should not go unnoticed, which is the place where the father is.
Second part:
Here we see the completion of an order,"Thy Kingdom Come"It is nothing more than the elevation of the longing of all his children, of all those who love him, and who long as mortal beings for his kingdom to come soon to this world, also indirectly recognizing his authority.
Third part:
Here we recognize that God's will is everything, manifesting our submission to his will, to his decisions over our trivial and vain ones. So when saying"Thy will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth"We already know what we are saying.
Fourth part:
In this part with a simple and sincere heart we make the request for prayer, in the case of the apostles it was the request for food"Give us this day our daily bread", and we must do the same, so that in this way, by not lacking food, we can help our neighbors who need it.
Fifth part:
With an attitude of reverence for his power and majesty, we ask for the forgiveness of our sins, but more having forgiven all of what they owe us,“and forgive our sins, as we forgive those who owe us.".
And here is a little clarification, for us to receive the father's forgiveness, we must previously forgive all those people who at some point in our lives have harmed or failed us. But be careful, this also includes us, because some people cannot forgive themselves for some event in their lives.
Part Six:
This part will surely make more than one's head spin, Jesus said in this part,"and lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
Because God in his greatness, can allow the enemy to tempt us? Well the answer is simple, God allows the enemy to put us in temptations, because he wants to know how far our faith in him goes, _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_he wants to test us in our faith and fidelity, just as he did with Job. Think of it this way, how can God help you if he doesn't know that you really love him.
With this request in Prayer, what we are doing is asking God not to tempt us and also to free us from evil. But you have to have a very small thing, that when God says something that something is done, his will is infinite.
God in his sovereignty, can tempt us, in fact as Christians that we are, know that in this world we will have temptations that will put us to the test and that will guide us to get as close as possible to the perfection of Jesus Christ.
But one thing that many do not know is that as children of God that we are, the enemy has to ask God for permission to be able to tempt us, and if temptations come into our lives, it is because God wanted it that way.
Another point to keep in mind is that satan cannot get close to us, unless he uses weapons from the world that make us waver in our faith, as has happened to great preachers and great Christians.
Our conviction as children of God is what protects us from falling, that is why we ask God not to let us fall and to free us from all evil.
I reflect and respond:
1. Why do you have to learn to pray? From whom are you learning?
2. How can you praise the name of God? Do you pray for the Kingdom of God (church) to grow? Do you pray out of daily necessity and for your forgiveness and to be able to forgive others as well? Do you pray for help and protection from temptations?
3. What else does Jesus want us to understand about prayer in verses 5–13?
Advice and Clarifications:
Adoration (praise) Confession Thanksgiving
Supplication (petitions)
If you do a 10 minute prayer for each section, that would be a powerful 40 minutes!
If you want to learn to praise God, read the book of Psalms.
Read:
Philippians 4:6-7
Development:
What the Apostle Paul tells us in this letter to the Philippians is that we should not be anxious or anxious for anything in this world, in fact the Apostle Paul tells us that it would be better for us to rest from all our afflictions and concerns, raising them in the Prayer and supplication to God, who sees us in secret and rewards us in public.
I reflect and respond:
What does God want you to pray about? What are some concerns you can pray about today? Do you feel at peace when you pray to God?
